JOB TITLE: Events Coordinator

SUPERVISOR’S TITLE: City Manager

POSTING DATE: February 21, 2018

The City of Bixby, a growing and progressive community, is seeking a proactive, positive, qualified individual who is self-motivated, task-oriented, and results-driven and will become an asset in the position of Events Coordinator.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Under the supervision of the City Manager, the Events Coordinator performs a variety of communication, planning, coordination, and administrative activities related to both Community (external) and City (internal) events as well as other administrative and communication tasks as assigned by the City Manager.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following represents the majority of the duties performed by the position, but is not meant to be an all-inclusive list or prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary:

1. Perform communication, planning, coordination, and administrative work related to events held in the City, including events at City facilities; events at other facilities where the City is either a participant, sponsor, or advocate; events that require City authorization, licensing, or permitting.
2. Perform communication, planning, coordination, and administrative work related to Farmer’s Market events in the City.
3. Perform other communication, coordination, and administrative work as assigned by the City Manager.
4. Attend event planning meetings and make presentations as required.
5. Attend events as required.
6. Coordinates with City Staff, directs contractors, and event sponsors or participants regarding assigned duties and obligations.
7. Generate and update schedules and spreadsheets indicating event and/or project status and projected time lines through completion.
8. Develops and maintains appropriate forms, procedures, and records.
9. Operates listed office machines as required.
10. Composes, and generates a variety of correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other material requiring accuracy, and completeness.
11. Performs other duties as required.

ASSOCIATED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

12. Public Relations: Provide good public relations in all encounters for all matters related directly and incidentally to Community and City events. This primarily involves contact, communication, and collaboration with citizens, organizations, City Staff, and both external and internal contractors.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

1. Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent.
2. Associates degree or equivalent in communication, marketing, finance, or business administration preferred.
3. Experience in communication, including writing, marketing, and social media as well as event planning, organization, or sponsoring.
4. Related experience, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATES / LICENSES REQUIRED:

• Valid Oklahoma driver’s license.

COMPENSATION:

Estimated to be $35,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

Communications Officer:

Department: Police Department

SALARY: $27,996.80/year

JOB DESCRIPTION: Communications Officer

MAJOR DUTIES:

• Answers incoming emergency and non-emergency phone calls; transfers calls to special
units within the department as appropriate
• Dispatches calls for service to the appropriate police, fire, animal control, and emergency medical agencies or units
• Dispatches after-hours public works calls
• Completes records checks upon the request of police officers and fire marshal including
driver’s license and criminal histories
• Enters and updates NCIC files
• Monitors video surveillance
• Acts as jailer providing supervision, meals, and hourly cell check of prisoners
• Performs other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Oklahoma drivers’ license
• Must be able to pass a drug screening and background check
• Must be skilled in the use of computers and various software programs as well as multi-line telephone systems
• Ability to read, write, spell and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent
• Ability to make critical decisions and judgments with the speed and accuracy required of the position
• Ability to have the high degree of multi-tasking required of the position
• Ability to work different shifts, i.e., shift work, to include weekends and holidays as needed to maintain a 24 hours per day, 365 days per year operation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIORONMENT

The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. The work is typically performed in the Public Safety Communications Center. The employee may be exposed to loud noise.

WATER METER READER:
