Fire Headquarters Ground BreakingBixby, OK. January 11th, 2023 –The City of Bixby was excited to announce the Official Groundbreaking of Bixby’s New Fire Station Headquarters. The event was held on Tuesday, January 17th, 2023, at 2:30 pm at 6397 E. 151 St. South.

The new facility is critical to launching the Bixby Fire Department’s EMS ambulance service as approved in the April 2021 Bond Proposition #1 election which passed with a historic 84.45% approval. The new Fire station will be in providing faster, locally based responses to community medical emergencies.

For over 40 years, Bixby’s Fire Station #1 has been located in Downtown Bixby and has served as headquarters for the department. Community growth has meant growth in services and subsequent growth in staff.  With the space limitations in the Downtown Station, expansion at the new site will allow Bixby to increase the number of ambulance units dedicated to serving the community.

The new StationFirefighters Groundbreaking provides over 29,000 square feet of new space, accommodating current and future growth. It will have 5 drive-thru bays, a 4-story training tower, and administrative offices as well as house up to 14 firefighters, firefighting apparatus, ambulances, and equipment for years to come. The facility will also have Emergency Operations Center for the City along with meeting and training space.  The launch of a staffed EMS Service at the new Fire Station #1 is slated for January 2024.

Beck Design has worked closely with Fire Department Staff to provide the architectural vision for the facility which will be constructed by Myers-Cherry Construction.  Beck and Myer-Cherry have both worked, individually, on high-profile City projects in the Downtown River District.
